From the wind turbine to trees eolieni

After three years of research and design, a team of French engineers presents the invention designed to assist in the use of wind in urban areas, by converting it into energy: The Wind Tree -tree, the wind nearly eight metres, with branches and "leaves" that can produce electricity using air currents. The prototype is currently in Pleumeur-Bodouin North-Western France.
With 72 artificial leaves that works like buzz's microturbine what a vertical axis wind turbine, is designed to harness the milder winds. The developers say that the invention works and the very low winds, really two meters per second, which makes it more useful than turbine 280 days per year. Production is calculated at 3.1 kW power.
Energy production can clothe and artistic forms, this is the message conveyed by the trees created by engineers at the company New Wind. "The idea came to me in a market when I saw the leaves of the trees moving easily, although I felt no little wind," explains Jérôme Michaud-Andrew, founder of the company. He said that the energy that came from somewhere and could be implemented in Watts. " Wind turbine designs all more interesting appear increasingly more often in recent years, but these trees are eolieni first invention that combines aesthetics and functionality. Eolieni trees will be exposed next year in Paris, Place de Concorde, in May.
The operating mode of the tree is simple: "leaves" are, in fact, drives that have built-in small pale, that spin inwards and thus "leaves" shall be guided by the wind, irrespective of its direction. Even a wind with a speed of only two meters per second you can put into action. Another very important aspect of the tree: wind in the form of leaves are quiet, unlike other wind power technologies, which, as a rule, are noisy and, therefore, cannot be used in urban areas. Thus, this type of wind tree can be placed in gardens, squares, in parks or even shopping centers. That looks like a modern sculpture is another bonus: can be use as a street art that also offers a city's energy.
Wind Tree prototype was installed at Pleumeur-Bodou, in Britain. He can turn into air currents of electricity only 4.5 m/hour. Cost, tree, amounted to approximately 30,000 euros.
